Best Snack Ever!

Or breakfast or lunch. Pretty much whenever you want to eat it it's gonna be good. I love yogurt. So much! I mean good yogurt. Real yogurt. Not that yoplait crap they call yogurt but is basically a bag of skittles in yogurt clothing. I mean have you seen how much sugar is in that stuff? I think a lot of people make the assumption that if it's yogurt then it's automatically good for you. Not so my friends. I'm a pretty picky yogurt eater. I've experimented a little bit and I've found my three favorite yogurt brands.

First there's Fage Greek Style Yogurt. Thick creamy tart goodness. Get the plain and the add your own honey. Seriously good. Did you know that adding a tablespoon of local honey to your diet everyday can help with allergies? True story. Also this is a great healthy alternative to sour cream. Substitute it when ever you would normally use sour cream.

The second brand I like to give to Miss. S. I get her the individual cups of Stoneyfield. It's organic so you know they won't use any high fructose corn syrup to sweeten it. I've also heard that Stonyfield is the best to use as a starter for making your own yogurt. My Mom makes her own yogurt quite a bit and uses Stonyfield  as the starter. I feel good giving Miss. S Stonyfield. She likes it just as much as Go-Gurt and it is a much healthier alternative. The price is also fairly low.

The last one I just tried a week ago per my Mom's suggestion. The Greek God's Honey flavored yogurt. OK this is like a dessert. It is to die for. Toss a handful of fresh berries on the top and you're set. It is seriously a party in my mouth. I'm begging all of you to try it. It is definitely a special occasion treat (it's pretty high in calories, fats and sugars). Not an everyday snack, but so so yummy! You can feel kind of good eating though because it is made with milk, cream, pure cane sugar, honey, pectin & five live active cultures. Notice no high fructose corn syrup or anything you can not pronounce (well except the cultures).

All of these brands contain those ever so valuable live active cultures that everyone is talking about these days. They aid in digestion and boost your immune system.

So there you have my yogurt low down. Does anyone else love it as much as I do? Do you have any favorites?

I love yogurt as well. I make my own since I am picky about the ingredients. I like to make a yogurt shake for breakfast-- 1 cup yogurt, a squirt of honey, a handful of frozen berries, 1 tbsp of Salba (a whole grain simular to flax that is high in Omega 3's) and 1 tbsp of coconut oil. Tastes great and is good for you (and I'm not hungry an hour later)!
I use Fage as a starter sometimes. I also like Wallaby Organic as a starter as well. Stonyfield is good as well, but I don't remember if I have tried it as a starter or not. Sometimes I even make my own greek style by straining it. :)

Someday I will make my own yogurt. It's on my bucket list. Until then I feel like these brands are at least using real ingredients. When you look at the labels on some yogurt brands it reads like a laundry list and you can't pronounce any of them. Yuck! I'm going to have to try your smoothy. It sounds delicious!

I LOVE yogurt as well. I use Greek yogurt as a base for my smoothies and shakes as well, it's a great source of high protein! I have converted my husband to Greek yogurt too! I love the Greek Goddess Honey. I also am a huge fan of Wallaby Organics (Maple) and Brown Cow Cream Top Maple, although not every day as it is higher in calories, but such a yummy treat!

Looks like I have to try this Wallaby Organics. Thanks for the suggestions! I have not yet converted Denny to the Greek yogurt obsession but I have converted him to the tart frozen yogurt craze. Also delicious. All in good time though.

I love it too!!! Greek yogurt w/ a little Splenda (or honey, agave, whatever you want to sweeten), and cinnamon then use it as a dip for apples. So, so good. Also a friend told me she used Fage and added the dry ranch dressing packet to dip her chips. She said it was really yummy too. LOVE IT. I love the Trader Joe's brand, too. And I love it plain, with fresh fruit mixed in and a little lowfat granola. I could go on and on. We are big fans. My kids love greek yogurt too.

I used to make my own yogurt until yogurt in general started making me sick :( I love yogurt so much especially with some jam. I can't wait until I can eat it again. We have a lot of frozen yogurt places here in Rexburg that I am wanting to try.

I also use Greek yogurt as a base and then add in a bit of 100% fruit preserves to make flavored yogurt for Kayla.

I had a great snack the other night...Fage yogurt with a sliced up super juicy nectarine and a few squirts of honey. So yummy!

I love that Costco sells large tubs of Fage yogurt for around $5.50!
